Charity drive

My classmate and I  had come up with the idea of having a charity drive, we collected books, toys, and clothes from the people in our school. while Divya was very instrumental along with my classmate we had in providing for the charity drive, I also helped in discussing the possible things we could do. On the 21 of December, My friends and I  went to a nearby orphanage to drop off the boxes with the stuff. There we sang and played with the kids and told them that this was a present from us and that we hope they enjoyed. it was a very heartwarming experience and because it was the time around Christmas it reminded me of how privileged I am and how I should be giving back more to the society.

The whole concept of charity is the spirit of giving back to the community. The act is normally associated with the rich giving to the poor, but it doesn't necessarily have to be as through this activity I have come to understand that charity is the act of giving happiness to another individual, in any form it takes. The idea of being caring and open-minded to the community you are in is extremely important and I learned through this activity that what divides us is the ability to share that happiness and being loving and caring to those around you. The joy I gained was the not the songs that the kids sang but much rather the smiles the kids had on their faces when they were told that we brought them toys. It was that smile and happiness that I felt was the complete success of the charity. The charity provided an opportunity for me to care and express my happiness and love to those who need it most and in doing so I found more happiness in myself.
