Teaching and playing with Differently abled kids

For this CAS activity, few of my classmates got the opportunity to spend time with a group of differently abled children who study at our sister campus.  I had this activity on the 17th of July for an hour, during this span of time I played a few games with the kids ranging from puzzles and coloring.

I had a great time meeting the kids. it was very new and different experience, I have had experience in working with underprivileged but I have never worked with differently abled kids before. I was initially nervous in dealing with them as I done a bit a research on how I should be when around them, my initial fear with them was that I would do something wrong and make them angry. I was dealing with kids who had ADHD and autism, but when I met them most of them were calm, friendly, playful and happy. Through the one hour time I had with the kids, I did puzzles with them and colored with them. Through this activity, I learned a lot of things. One of the biggest things I learned through this activity was patients. When working with differently abled kids one has to be patient and follow the kid at all times, there were moments in during the activity were the kid I was working with wouldn't listen or would lose interest in the activity, I learned to always follow the kid and make sure he is having a good time

secondly, I learned how to listen more keenly. This in regards to the fact that you have to understand the needs and wants of the children as this is what makes up the whole. I really enjoyed this activity and I  have a gained a lot of experience from this
